it's a moo point.: PROLOGUE TO MY SPACED FEELINGS →
lauranicus:
I’ve heard some people weigh in pretty negatively on Spaced’s life expectancy in the long run, due to the fact that its humor is deeply embedded in rapid-fire pop culture references. It’s a tricky thing to rely on, given that the relevancy shifts and changes and disappears as…

Despite being in the band program for 8 years at school and also private music lessons for 7 years, I am terrible at reading music. I am, however, really good at picking things up by ear which I think just comes naturally for a lot of people living in my area. I can play piano, guitar, clarinet and tin whistle pretty decently. I can also sing fairly well but my range is pretty limited.

Halloween is my favourite day of the year. Last October I dressed up as Shaun (from Shaun of the Dead, of course) and ended up having to explain my costume and its significance to my Medieval Literature class.

First day of work: SUCCESS.
I’m officially an Education Coordinator, whatever that means. I’m still trying to figure it out, to be honest. But the people are so incredibly nice and I think I’m going to love this job. There are two other students there that started today (although their titles differ from mine) and we hung out for a bit in the common area and they’re both...

I’ve got autographed pictures of John Noble and Jasika Nicole (Fringe) hanging up on my wall, thanks to Zanna (@galindawithaguh). Jasika’s says ‘Cait, thanks for watching! Come hang out in Vancouver sometime, eh?’ and it never fails to make me smile.

I go to great lengths to make my friends laugh. In the past I’ve made pop-up birthday cards, personalized Christmas poems, and ridiculous auto-tuned songs about a creepy university professor.

I used to play Cops & Robbers a lot with my brothers and neighbours when I was younger. The treehouse my dad built us was always the prison. One day this bastardly kid that lived up the road was mad because we wouldn’t let him play, so he locked us in the treehouse. I was screaming at the top of my lungs hoping my mom would come out unlock the door, but she didn’t hear me. So I had...

I worked for the federal government for several years and I’m convinced that my work place was a million times funnier than The Office. Proof? One guy fell asleep at his desk and we covered him in post-it notes. I also had my Spock action figure on my desk and whenever I’d leave, one of the guys would make costumes for it. The best was the day I came in to find Spock dressed as the...

I once attempted to do an acoustic cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me, Babe’ at an outdoor concert a few summers ago. I messed up the lyrics terribly. But thankfully the crowd was mostly old people and toddlers so I don’t think they minded too much.

“Now on to New York. Not only am I no longer flagged by county, my accent in New York wont tell people Im from Cape Breton. It wont tell people which province Im from, or even that Im Canadian. For a people who can pinpoint Southern, Mid-Western, or Bostonian accents in one breath, Cape Breton (lets even say Maritime, for the sake of it) accents seem to be a mystery to New Yorkers. I...
